Prof. Hiroshi Maeda (November 12nd, 2014)
We were happy to welcome Prof. Hiroshi Maeda, a Japanese pharmacologist and chemist on Friday 12nd November 2014. He is known for the discovery of the enhanced permeability and retention (EPR) effect, where certain molecules, such as liposomes, nanoparticles and macromolecular drugs tend to accumulate in tumor tissue more than in normal tissues. His talk was entitled “Nanomedicine for cancer selective delivery: Advantage of the EPR effect and pitfalls”. It was a pleasure to meet him and discuss about cancer-targeted therapy.
Prof. Hans-Peter Horny (October 3rd, 2014)
Prof. Hans-Peter Horny, a famous pathologist from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany, was invited to give a seminar lecture of the SFB F47-B20 and the Ludwig Boltzmann Cluster Oncology on 3rd October 2014. He gave a lecture with the title “Morphologic and phenotypic heterogeneity of mast cells and basophils in the neoplastic bone marrow”. As one of the best pathologists, he is a very important member of the European Competence Network on Mastocytosis (ECNM). We thank him for his time and interesting microscopic images.
Prof. Peter Sill (September 12nd, 2014)
On Friday 12nd of September we were happy to welcome a long-term cooperation partner from the Medical University of Graz in our hospital in Vienna, namely Prof. Peter Sill. He talked about "Therapy-related myeloid neoplasms" and he presented very interesting facts and results which were discussed extensively after his presentation.
Prof. Dr. Karin Hartmann (August 28th, 2014)
Prof. Dr. Karin Hartmann, PD at the Department of Dermatology and Venerology of the Medical University of Köln, Germany, was a guest of the SFB F47-B20 and the Ludwig Boltzmann Cluster Oncology on 28th August 2014. She gave an interesting talk with the title "Mastocytosis in the Skin: New Concepts in Basic Science and Clinical Research". Prof. Dr. Karin Hartmann is Professor of Allergology and an important member of the European Competence Nework on Mastocytosis (ECNM). We thank her for her time and great discussions.
Prof. Marie C. Béné (August 1st, 2014)
Prof. Marie C. Béné from Nantes in France visited us in August 2014 and gave a lecture about flow cytometric evaluations in myeloid neoplasms, their diagnostic challenges and proposed algorithms. She is Professor at the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nantes and her main research focuses on B-cell malignancies. We thank her for fruitful discussions about flow cytometric analyses of blood and bone marrow samples.
Marc Kernyi, PhD (March 4th, 2014)
On the 4th of March 2014 Marc Kerenyi, PhD visited us from Boston. He is a postdoctoral Research Fellow at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Center - Harvard Medical School. His very interesting talk at our Friday seminar was about "Histone Demethylase Lsd1 Represses Stem and Progenitor Cell Signatures during Blood Cell Maturation”.
