The American Initiative in Mast Cell Diseases (AIM) is an international network of professionals, researching mastocytosis and various diseases of the mast cell.

Prof. Valent was honored for his work, which contributes greatly to help people with mast cell diseases all over the world. He is also recognized for his important leadership role, which has been a driving force behind numerous international collaborations – after all his own European Competence Network on Mastocytosis (ECNM), was the model for The American Initiative in Mast Cell Diseases (AIM).
